About Me

I’m Emma, a registered paediatric nurse with experience working in NICU. Whilst I loved my job, working in a hospital was a constant reminder of the vast amount of preventable suffering that exists. If you’ve ever been to a hospital, you’ll likely have seen the classic image of a patient undergoing chemotherapy smoking a cigarette outside under the ‘no smoking’ sign. This reflects a deeply interconnected web of problems that is far too complex to unpack here. The point is, this issue stared me in the face every day, all day. I could not ignore it, and I grew restless feeling as though my efforts could be better used elsewhere.

When I was 21, I took a six-month break between finishing university and starting work. At first, the freedom felt so peaceful, but I soon realised that furniture flipping whilst binge-watching true crime wasn’t a path to purpose and fulfilment. With this sudden void emerging, I began searching for deeper meaning and stumbled across a podcast that introduced me to the concept of self-development. One of the first episodes I listened to focused on social media. Inspired, I decided to delete it.

In that moment I could never have conceptualised the depth of transformation that decision would bring.

Deleting social media freed up my time and attention to work out what truly mattered to me and focus on it. I began immersing myself in the principles of continuous improvement whilst learning about health in a completely new light. I found I turned my attention inward. Instead of comparing my life with others, I focused on myself and what mattered to me. The feeling of anxiety began dissipating and a sense of peace and contentment day-to-day started to emerge. I could write a book about the effects this has had on my life, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

This year, I made the leap and quit my job to focus all my attention on helping people live healthier and more fulfilling lives. I believe that a sense of meaning and purpose is intricately connected to your health—one cannot exist fully without the other. Hence, my approach to coaching is multi-dimensional. I am always learning and evolving and so my coaching approaches will be continually refined and improved.

I can honestly say that when I look back, I am unable to relate in any way to the way I used to live, think, and feel. In Zen, there is a principle that points to the limitations of language. Think of the sensation of warm water, for example—it cannot fully be described; you must feel it yourself to truly understand. Words cannot convey my inner experience; you have to live it for yourself to grasp it fully.

I would not have quit my job and dedicated my life to this if the change I experienced was not profound. When you are stuck, it is hard to imagine a different way of thinking and being, but that does not mean it does not exist. Life can feel so calm and fulfilling, I am doing this because I want to help you experience this for yourself.
